But there is a unique temple in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh where Ravana is worshipped. The doors of this temple open only once a year. On Dussehra, Jalabhishek, Shringar and Pujan take place. People wait for Dussehra throughout the year. Amidst the tradition of killing and burning of Ravana on Vijayadashami, worship is done at this famous Ravana temple in Kanpur. This temple was built in 1868.

Ravana is worshipped on Dussehra

According to religious beliefs, Lord Rama killed Ravana on the day of Dussehra and goodness won over evil. This temple in Kanpur also has a huge Shivalinga and a statue of Ravana was also installed here which was prepared by a family living in Unnao. The doors of this temple are opened once a year i.e. on the day of Dussehra and on this day Ravana is anointed with milk and water. Then he is adorned and worshipped with Aarti.

Ravana's birthday is celebrated on this day

It is believed that Ravana died on the same day when he was killed by Lord Ram. He was reborn on the same day. Due to which Ravana's birthday is also celebrated on Dussehra in this temple. This temple is considered to be a very famous temple in Kanpur district. A large number of people also come to visit it.
